To the north-west of the walls is Tvrđava Minčeta, an ancient tower and the highest point in Dubrovnik Old Town. The views from the top of this tower are exceptional. 2. Visit Fort Lovrijenac. Just outside Dubrovnik Old Town is Fort Lovrijenac, an impressive 16th century fortress that has been built atop a 37 meter high rock-face. Great place to visit. The place has become very popular after the TV series Game of thrones has been aired. It is at the center of old Dubrovnik town near the bell tower on the Stradum. The entry is 8am to 7pm at summer but in winter it closes at 5pm. The entry to inner court is free of charge.
At the eastern entrance of the Dubrovnik Old Town, you find the cable car station. The orange two cabins are capable of carrying up to 30 people. The cable cars scale up to Mount Srd in about three minutes, which is really fast! The shortest way to reach the cable car station from Old Town is by walking the stairs from the Stradun.
