FOX 13 News Staff. SEATTLE - Alaska Airlines is amplifying its fleet with the arrival of the first Boeing 737-8, marking a pivotal step in the airline's strategic growth plan. The airline says it operates the youngest fleet among U.S. carriers and is on track to incorporate 15-25 new Boeing aircraft each year from 2024 to 2027.
The Boeing 737 MAX uses 37% less fuel per trip compared to the Boeing 757-200, which currently makes up the bulk of the Icelandair fleet, and 14% less than the Boeing 737 NG type of aircraft. The 737 MAX also leaves a 40% smaller noise footprint than its predecessors, even though the engines are more powerful.

The aircraft is configured with First Class, Main Cabin Extra, and Main Cabin seating and is known in the industry as the Oasis Project. Main Cabin Extra is a standard Main Cabin Economy Class-style seat with additional legroom.
